Basic Rules For Karate Flag/Sparring

Basic Rules for forms

• Flag sparring (tigers)- Helmet required
Point sparring(youth and above)- Mouthguard, helmet, hand gear that covers fingers (recommended foam karate sparring gear, MMA and boxing gloves NOT allowed), foot gear that fully covers toes. Groin protector required for male competitors. Face shields, chest protectors and shin guards are required by ALL competitors 17 and under.

A.F.O. NOTE: Scoring is based on a scale of 9.90-10.0 unless more than 8 competitors (9.90-9.93 is low, 9.94-9.95 is mid placement, 9.99-9.96 for the top four, 10 for a perfect score).

Basic Rules For Karate Flag/Sparring

Flag Sparring- Tiny Tiger Age 3-6: Tiny Tigers will do flag sparring. Each competitor will have 4 flags in his

or her belt, 2 in the front and 2 in the back. The first person to pull out all of the flags of their opponent wins

the match. If time runs out, the student who pulled the most number of flags out of their opponent’s belt
